What Are The Molecular Postcards?

During my first relationship, I created two postcards while channeling the persona of a scientist. This imagined scientist knows nothing except his own human experience but regardless of this, he is passionate about rationalising the world, research and sharing his discoveries. He was mesmerised by acts of presenting absolute truths and consequently, pursued the practice. The scientist’s passion for molecules is unjustified; I imagine him having stumbled upon a rendition of the ‘solid, liquid, gas’ graphic and deciding then and there that this was going to be his life’s work.

I imagined the intensity of the scientist’s passion synonymous with my love for my past partner. I felt there were many parallels. At the time, I thought you can’t define why you feel love for someone or outline why they spark random agency in you and encourage unfiltered self-expression.

The relationship I was in ended 8 months ago, but it felt wrong for the postcard series to be unfinished forever. Because of this, the series ends awkwardly. But it is complete.
